Lunar Gala 2026, Fable

Lunar Gala is Carnegie Mellon's student-run fashion show. Each year the creative team translates the year's theme through various modalities like print, web, photo, and motion design on large LED screens as models walk.

I designed several 3D motion pieces, translating the intent of an individual fashion designer's line while maintaining the year's brand.

Sticky notes were quotes of their reactions, while star stickers marked elements they preferred.
After reviewing Nate and Frank's designer's line and accompanying narrative, I created a moodboard to define visual elements that best complement their line's message and tone. It helped me understand their taste so I can begin translating their vision.

Since the motion piece would be displayed on a large screen behind fashion models, the piece needed to be slow, abstract, and seemlessly loop to not distract from the fashion lines themselves.

Act Animation Motifs — assigned by our Creative Directors
The tone and motifs were assigned by our Creative Directors, along with inspo visuals for reference. Since each act animation has several scenes by different members, we populated a storyboard with in-progress style frames to keep transitions visually cohesive. I collaborated most closely with Kyle, who worked on the scene coming after mine so my scene could fade into his seamlessly.
